Like any activity, driving all day can become tiring, and sometimes it can be frustrating to work with other drivers on the road. If you drive a truck in Louisiana, though, it is important for you to make sure you do not become aggressive as you drive.
According to the American Automobile Association, a driver is being aggressive if he or she intentionally uses unsafe behaviors on the road. These behaviors include tailgating and merging into another lane without using the turn signals. Aggressive drivers may also run red lights, speed and weave between lanes. Sometimes a trucker might also stop cars from getting in a different lane or merge into a lane and immediately slow down.
Even though you may get frustrated as you drive, particularly if you are in traffic, it is important to make sure you always drive responsibly. If you need to use your horn, you should typically use short beeps instead of one long honk. Additionally, it is a good idea to signal before turning or changing lanes. When you are on the road at night, you may also want to make sure your high beams will not blind other drivers on the road.
Because you spend so much time on the road, it is important for you to make sure that aggressive driving does not turn into road rage. Road rage is not just using unsafe behavior. It also includes making rude hand motions at other drivers and swearing. In extreme cases, a trucker with road rage might sideswipe or ram another vehicle and sometimes even push a vehicle off the road.
