Man claims car accident was caused by faulty tire replacement

Getting a flat tire on the highway can be a frightening experience, but it is possible to regain control of the vehicle and get it off the road. However, when an entire wheel comes off while driving at highway speeds, the result can be a catastrophic car accident. This is what happened to a Louisiana man as he traveled on Interstate 10.

When the wheel fell of his pickup truck, the vehicle crashed. The Louisiana man apparently suffered serious injuries that turned out to be debilitating. He claims that the tire was not properly reattached by the technician at the Goodyear Auto Service Center he took his pickup truck to just three days prior to the accident. The man took his pickup truck in for an inspection, rotation and balance of his tires.

In his lawsuit filed in the 24th Judicial District Court, the man accuses the technician of failing to complete the work assigned to him properly and also failing to inspect the tire properly. He also alleges that the vehicle was not properly secured. His personal injury claim not only includes the technician who worked on his truck, but the Goodyear Auto Service Center to which he took the vehicle as well as The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company.

If the court determines that the technician was negligent and that his actions caused or contributed to the car accident, an award of damages may be considered. Moreover, if the technician is found liable by the court, his employer will most likely be found liable as well — assuming that the work was done in the cope of the technician’s employment. Any monetary judgments awarded by the court could provide the victim with the funds needed to relieve the financial impact of the crash.
