A serious single-vehicle accident on Louisiana 3059 has resulted in serious injuries to a passenger from Lake Charles. Calcasieu Parish authorities state that a single-vehicle car accident occurred in the mid-morning hours, when it appears that the driver lost control of the vehicle. The driver, a 29-year-old woman, is facing serious criminal charges in this accident.
Authorities believe that the driver lost control navigating around a curve, causing the vehicle to fly through the air after hitting a driveway, ultimately landing in a ditch. The driver reportedly was not wearing a seatbelt but still escaped serious injury. The passenger, an 18-year-old woman, sustained serious injuries in the crash. Authorities state that she also was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident.
The driver has been charged with a number of criminal charges, including DWI. She remained in the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center. Reports released shortly after the accident do not update the status of the injured passenger’s medical condition. Authorities are still investigating the accident.
