Accidents in Louisiana involving motorcycles and larger vehicles can be devastating, especially to the motorcyclist, who is often more vulnerable due to his or her exposure and the higher potential for trauma. Currently, police are investigating the cause of a fatal motorcycle versus car accident.
It is reported that the motorcycle was traveling on Scotland Avenue in the early morning hours when the car pulled out of a driveway into its path. The motorcyclist sustained fatal injuries in the collision. Police stated that the 31-year-old man was already deceased when they arrived on the scene.
Reports do not state whether the driver of the car, a 39-year-old man, was injured. Police have stated that alcohol is believed to be a factor in the collision, but on whose part is still unknown. No arrest was made, but the report does not indicate whether charges might be pending.
The family of the man killed in this car accident likely is eager to learn what caused this tragedy. If any ongoing investigation determines that the driver of the car was under the influence or was negligent in any way behind the wheel, the family may begin to investigate their rights to pursue a wrongful death suit under Louisiana’s personal injury laws. Though no compensation can bring back a loved one, it may help the victim’s family have a bit of solace in the face of their grief, knowing that they will be able to financially recover from their loss.
