It’s no secret that passengers have very little control over what happens in the car. They truly are putting their safety in the hands of the driver, relying on them to safely navigate the roads and respond quickly to any dangers that might arise. Sometimes, the driver may fail in these duties. An accident in Louisiana recently claimed the life of rapper Ceddy Bu, know as “The Rap Sumo,” and his family may have the right to file a wrongful death suit against the driver of the car in which Bu was riding.
The details of the accident were not terribly plentiful. At an unknown time of day, Bu was riding in the passenger seat of a car while another man was driving. While the driver’s name was released, it was not immediately clear what the relationship between the two men was. It was also not immediately available where the two men were headed.
The driver crashed into a telephone pole and Bu died immediately. The driver was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries, which were reportedly minor. Authorities did not immediately indicate if they considered alcohol or drugs to be contributing factors to the accident.
The rapper’s family is likely grieving his loss and hoping for answers to how this fatal collision occurred. Authorities often investigate the possibility of alcohol, drugs or speed as contributing factors in accidents such as this one. Any family in Louisiana whose loved one has passed away due to the negligent or reckless actions of another likely has the right to file a wrongful death suit against that person. Compensation may be awarded for loss of companionship and pain and suffering, along with final expenses and burial costs. Obviously it can never make up for the life that was lost, but it can help to ease the financial strain caused by the tragedy.
